‘Taste of the Garden’ celebrates hard work, harvest of Hunger Task Force of La Crosse
The fundraiser benefits the task force's food recovery program and the Kane Street Community Garden
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT)- Community members are raising a glass to the good work of the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse.
Guests at the “Taste of the Garden” event enjoyed live music while participating in a silent auction and a wine raffle. Area restaurants brought food inspired by the produce grown in the Kane Street Community Garden, and local breweries and wineries provided samples to the crowd. The event celebrates the hard work done by the task force and it’s volunteers.
“People are taking garden tours, taking a look around and seeing what our staff and volunteers do all day long,” says Executive Director Shelly Fortner.
The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse distributes roughly 30,000 pounds of produce every year! The funds raised during the “Taste” event will go to the task force’s food recovery program and the the Kane Street Community Garden.
