Teachers from around the country do archeological dig near Viroqua

VIROQUA, Wis.– A number of teachers from across the country spent the day Friday playing in the dirt near Viroqua.

As part of a three week intensive experience for teachers to learn about how cultures adapted in our environment, the group of educators spent time at an archeological site.

The place has already been excavated by professionals, but there are still a number of lessons to learn and share through this hands-on experience. “My hope is to find out a lot of things that sort of further what I already know and bring back new things that I can incorporate in the classroom, share with my students personal stories, pictures of us doing things hands on and different activities to bring back to my students,” says teacher Gregory Thomas from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The teachers represent 13 different states and teach a variety of grade levels.
