Teen shot in head while walking along DSM street

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police are looking for the gunman who fired shots along a Des Moines street, striking a 17-year-old boy in the head.

KCCI-TV reports the victim was shot just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday as he walked along the street with a group of friends.

Police say a light-colored vehicle passing buy caught the group’s attention and the victim walked into the street to talk to people inside the vehicle. Police say that’s when shots were fired and the teenager was hit.

He was taken to a Des Moines hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say they don’t believe the shooting was random.

The investigation is continuing.
