‘The Campus Thread’ supports those in need at UW-La Crosse

Students and staff at a local university in need of clothing have a new option.

‘The Campus Thread’ community clothing closet is now open inside Common Ground campus ministry near the U-W La Crosse campus.

The closet provides clothing, bedding and shoes available for campus students and staff in need.

Planning for the closet has been underway for about two years.

As prices rise, the hope is to lift some of the financial burden on students.

“The students in general are challenged in terms of paying for college and just having the resources to do that, so we though this was one way to help reduce the cost of being here,” said UW-La Crosse director of financial aid Louise Janke.

High-demand items include sweaters, jackets and men’s clothing.

Drives will be organized as needed to keep the closet full.
