WI Department of Health Services warns people about coronavirus phishing scam

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – There is new information about coronavirus in Wisconsin, but it’s not related to new cases.

The Department of Health Services says people have been receiving phishing scams.

They are sent via email and contain information about coronavirus, but officials say it’s NOT from a credible source.

If you click on the link it brings you to a fraudulent website and asks for personal information.

The Department is warning people to be cautious.

Don’t click on suspect links, and most importantly, don’t give out personal information.

The Department of Health Services reports only one positive case of coronavirus in the state.

A total of 15 cases have been investigated.

13 came back negative and one is still pending.

The Department says the risk in Wisconsin remains low.
