The Sylvee is collecting cassette tapes
Tapes will be used to create mural
MADISON, Wis. — The Sylvee, a new concert venue opening up this fall on East Washington Street, is gathering cassette tapes to create a mural in honor of Sylvia Frank.
According to its website, Sylvia Frank was the matriarch of the Frank family, who moved to Madison in 1964, the same year the cassette tape was introduced to the U.S.
Zebradog, a Madison-based graphic design organization, is set to help build a mural of Sylvia inside the Sylvee, completely made of cassette tapes.
The Sylvee is asking people to donate pre-recorded artist album tapes. They do not want blank or mixed tapes and the cases are not needed.
For every 10 tapes donated, individuals will be entered into a drawing for a four-pack of tickets to any show at The Sylvee, even sold-out shows will be available.
For every tape, FBC Live will donate 50 cents to the UW Carbone Cancer Center in Sylvia’s honor.
Donations will be accepted at Strictly Discs, MadCity Music, B-Side Records and 101.5 WIBA-FM at 2651 S. Fish Hatchery Rd.
