Theodore ‘Ted’ Latham

February 14, 1938 - June 20, 2022

Theodore “Ted” H. Latham, 84, of Onalaska, Wis., passed away Monday, June 20, 2022.

TheodoreTed was born on February 14, 1938, to Harold and Myrtle Latham in Bloomer, WI. He attended high school in Bloomer, where he met his best friend, Jean Schulz. Ted and Jean married on December 26, 1958. Working for the airlines (North Central, Republic, Northwest), Ted relocated his family (Janesville, Marshfield and Rapid City) before settling in the La Crosse area.

Ted enjoyed working for the airlines, as he would meet people from all walks of life and could easily strike up a conversation with complete strangers. Volunteering and service to the community became staples for Ted’s life. Together with Jean he was a cubmaster and scoutmaster and shared the love of the outdoors. He was a longtime member of Halfway Creek Lutheran Church and the La Crosse Skyrockers. He was an avid reader, enjoyed model railroading and taking trips with Jean on their motorcycles.

The couple have four children, Theodore II (Colleen), Ole (Linda), Eric (Carol) and Sonya (Tom Mix); seven grandchildren, Nicole, Erin, Phillip, Michelle, Allison, Shannon and Alexandra, and six great-grandchildren, Micah, Dillon, Leo, Olive, Ford, and Nolan.

The family appreciates the care and laughs given by all of Ted’s caregivers in the last months of his life.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Myrtle, brother Robert, and sister Joyce Theobald.

Services for Ted will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church, rural Holmen. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery, Sand Creek, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Ted’s name to Halfway Creek Lutheran Church in Holmen or to the La Crosse Skyrockers.
