Thomas Reay Betsinger

January 3, 1945 ~ November 7, 2022

Thomas Reay Betsinger passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Monday, November 7th, 2022 in La Crosse, WI.

Tom was born January 3, 1945 to Frank (Tom) Betsinger and Esther (Rozendal) Betsinger.

Tom attended Holmen High School where he graduated in 1963.

After graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse where he earned a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics.

He established U.S. Shear were he designed and fabricated steel recycling machinery which he marketed and sold worldwide. He had a brilliant mind for hydraulics and held numerous patents.

Inventing and drafting machinery was both an occupation and passion for Tom. Offshore powerboat racing, motorcycles, model railroading, and anything high speed were also common themes in his life.

Tom was a curious man with a thirst for knowledge. He had a gift for storytelling and a wild sense of humor. His love for his family was clear, as was how proud he was of his children.

Tom is survived by his loving children, Carson, Ann, and Brian; sisters Linda Betsinger and Janet (Lloyd) Kennedy, brother-in-law Tom Cramer, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Sue Ann Betsinger.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a .m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at North Presbyterian Church, 1327 North Salem Road, La Crosse. Pastor Scott Skogen will officiate and burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery, rural Holmen.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
