Thompson speaks publicly about senate run
3922092WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is speaking publicly for the first time about running for the U.S. Senate.
During a luncheon Monday, Thompson said his views would bring positive changes to Washington. His campaign will focus on creating jobs and cutting taxes.
Thompson says he’s running for the right reasons. “I want to serve Wisconsin. I have ideas, and ideals I believe could be utilized in Washington. I think I’ve got a better way, and that I’d be the strongest candidate. But we’ll let the people decide,” says Thompson.
Thompson won’t make the official announcement of his Senate run until spring. He’ll join Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin and former Representative Mark Neumann who have already announced they are running for the seat.
