Thousands of athletes, spectators expected for return of WIAA State Track and Field Championship in La Crosse
Three days of events start Thursday
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The WIAA State Track and Field meet is getting ready to return to Veterans Memorial Sports Complex in La Crosse.
Thousands of athletes from across the state will go for the gold starting Thursday.
About 16,000 fans are expected to be here to cheer on the athletes.
All of those people coming to the area means a boost for area businesses.
“Typically we approximate this event at one-point-eight to two-point-two millions of economic impact. And I think even this year with the altered changes, we’re still going to see something really close to that,” said Jeremiah Burish, sports and events director of Explore La Crosse.
The tournament will take place over three days instead of the normal two.
