Tomah police receive ‘shots fired’ complaints

Police: Calls related to early Goose Hunting Season

The Tomah Police Department has received “shots fired” complaints from the west part of the City, the Department stated on its Facebook page Saturday afternoon.

Police said this is related to the early Goose Hunting Season that runs from September 1 to September 15.

Hunters are allowed to hunt on the south side of Lake Tomah in the marsh area. Tomah police said there have been a few goose hunters on the Lake, as well as a group hunting in the field north of Jefferson Street in Monroe County.

“Your reports of ‘gunshots’ near that area will still be taken and responded to, but may likely be related to goose hunting during this time,” Tomah police said.
