Tomah VA stopping all referrals to VAF
Decision comes during investigation into veteran death
TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) — The Tomah VA is stopping all referrals to the Veterans Assistance Foundation.
The decision is, in part, due to an investigation into the death of a veteran in the VAF’s care. Veterans in the VAF’s temporary housing program are also being told to move out of the Medical Center location by mid-January.
The investigation, led by the Tomah Police Department is looking into the death of a 54-year-old female veteran who had been in VA-F housing.
In a statement released earlier this week, VAF officials say “While I cannot comment on a current investigation, I can state that there was no criminal negligence on behalf of the VAF or the security company we contract with.
