LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – Kiddos of farmers or farm workers will be receiving gifts this holiday season thanks to a local toy drive that happened earlier today.

Citizen Action of Wisconsin hosted the drive to collect sustainable toys like books, puzzles, and games for kids in rural areas.

Organization officials say this year has been a difficult one, but giving back in a sustainable way not only helps families but also the environment.

“We’re not adding to the plastic crisis, We really encourage folks to shop at local, small businesses, for wooden toys and toys that will last,”  said  Heather Talbot of Citizen Action of Wisconsin.

The toy drive ran from noon until 4 PM.
