Toyota donates nearly $15,000 to La Crosse YWCA

$100 from every car bought in Nov., Dec. donated

A local car dealership is making a big donation to area programs supporting women.

Toyota of La Crosse presented a check for $14,500 to the YWCA La Crosse Wednesday.

The donation comes after the dealership pledged to give the YWCA $100 for every car sold in the months of November and December last year as part of their “Toyota of La Crosse Cares” initiative.

“Not knowing how much it would be, we waiting and anxious, but that’s a gift that you don’t often see come along,” said YWCA Executive Director Ruthann Schultz.

Toyota of La Crosse General Manager Sean Green says helping out a community organization gave everyone at the dealership a good feeling.

“It actually created an emotional high for my employees,” said Green. “For every new vehicle we sold, the sales person would come into my office and say, ‘Hey, I just delivered another one, I just sold another one,’ and we were all keeping a tab on the total.”

Toyota of La Crosse had set a goal of 120 cars sold during the campaign, but ended up surpassing that goal with 145.
