Toys For Tots donates toys to area families

Families gathered early Saturday morning, to receive toys from the Toys for Tots drive.

For the last 80 years, the La Crosse Jaycees has organized the Toys for Tots toy drive to collect toys for parents who are unable to afford Christmas gifts for their kids.

Over 1,000 kids in the community will be receiving toys this year which organizers say is down slightly from previous years.

Organizers say it’s important to remember those who are less fortunate during the holidays.

“It makes you feel good and you know if you were hurting financially that someone would have your back and be able to help you and know that are fantastic parent and doing all you can. Everyone needs a hand up every once in a while –I don’t like to say handout–so everyone wants a hand up every once in a while. Everyone deserves that,” said Lyndsey Langer, chair of Toys for Tots

Donated toys were collected through Toys for Tots bins placed around the community.
