Toys for Tots goal met with a week to go

La Crosse Jaycees still looking for items for older children

If you’re out doing some holiday shopping this weekend, there’s still time to make the holidays a little brighter for kids in our area.

The La Crosse Jaycees will be picking up toy donations on Friday, December 5th.

The Jaycees say they’ve already hit their goal of collecting toys for 1,300 kids in our area and are expecting another big wave of donations following the post-Thanksgiving shopping rush.

While they’ve reached their goal for the season, they are still in need of some items for older kids.

“We’re looking for hair accessories, play make-up, jewelry, those sort of things for girls [ages] 10-12,” said Kelly Goyette of the Jaycees. “Legos are [also] always popular, we run out of those every year for the older boys.”

If you’d like to donate a toy, you can find drop-off bins at multiple locations in our area, including at News 8 on South 6th Street in La Crosse.

As a reminder, the Jaycees are only able to accept new toys this year and serve kids up to age 12.
