Tractor overturns, pins area farmer underneath

A 73-year-old man received possible life-threatening injuries after his tractor overturned and pinned him underneath on Friday afternoon in the Town of Waumandee.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says Gerald Salwey had been turning his tractor and field digger around on a steep side hill located on Yeager Valley Road half mile from Highway 88 around 12 p.m.

The tractor, which did not have a roll bar or cab, overturned, pinning Salwey underneath. A local construction company helped rescue crews lift the tractor off of Salwey. He was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
