‘Two-a-days’: The 2015 Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates
Season Opener: Aug. 21 vs. Pepin-Alma
FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. (WKBT) — After throwing for over 2,000 yards as a sophomore, quarterback Tristan Schmidtknecht and four other offensive starters are back for another crack at the Dairyland.
Entering the fall with seven consecutive playoff seasons, Head Coach Steve Lyga brings a healthy roster of 44 players into the fall of 2015. Under Lyga, players are assured an opportunity to make plays, more often then not, through the air.
“We like to toss the ball around, and allow those skill players to basically make one man miss and try to make some plays,” said Lyga.
Defensively, first-team All-Dairyland linebacker Dylan Wolfe returns in the middle. As for Schmidtknecht’s help on the outside, he gets his main target back in second-team All-Dairyland wide receiver Devin Zonick-Greenwold.
“We bring back a lot of athletes,” said running back Jonathan Cieminski. “There are quick guys, there’s tall guy, guys who can jump and catch the ball. We have good hands this year, and there won’t be many dropped passes this year.”
The Pirates open the season Aug. 21 against Pepin-Alma.
