“Two-a-days”: The 2015 Melrose Mindoro Mustangs
Season opener: Aug. 20 vs. Bangor
MELROSE, Wis (WKBT) — A new field and a new energy arrive in Melrose just in time for the Mustangs season opener Thursday against Kellen Kravik and Bangor.
“I have been looking forward to this ever since they started on that,” said junior quarterback Sam Boone. “I cannot tell you how excited I am going to be before kickoff.”
Boone posted strong numbers as a sophomore, and again Melrose-Mindoro plans on maximizing a passing game with plenty of potential in 2015.
“I think we turned quite a few heads last year with some of the things that we did on offense,” said Boone. “A lot more passing then I think a lot of teams thought we could do and that backfield is also really good receiving let alone as rushers too so we have a lot to offer back there.”
The Mustangs backfield is once again headlined by multi-sport star Erik Christopherson. After leading the basketball team on a turnaround season over the winter, Christopherson will try to top his 2014 league-leading 738 rushing yards this fall.
