‘Two-a-days’: The Winona Senior Winhawks

Season Opener: Aug. 22 vs. Rochester Century

WINONA, MN (WKBT) — After a (1-8) campaign in 2014, a positive senior class is busy rejuvenating in Winona.

Linebacker Justin Ruff appears to be one of the leaders of this change, and if he can stay healthy the Winhawks ability to run the ball and stop the run will be much improved.

“We’ve got a massive line this year, got a couple seniors returning who have always been beasts,” said Ruff.

Fifteen starters in all return for head coach John Cassellius’s 11th year in charge.

“I am encouraged because I know there were a lot of games that we lost by two scores or less and these players want those to become wins,” said Cassellius.

The Winhawks begin their turnaround campaign on Saturday against Rochester Century.
