Two injured in Buffalo County roll-over crash

ALMA, Wis. (WKBT) –Two Minnesota men were injured Sunday in a Buffalo County crash after one passed in a no-passing zone on Hwy. 35, according to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched to the scene at 7:57 p.m. Sunday following a report of a two-vehicle head on collision near the Alma school.

Investigators determined Ronald Kennerly, 58, Ortonville, Minn., was driving his 1998 Chevrolet Malibu and passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone. He struck a 2005 Saturn Ion driven by Dennis McGrath, 53, Red Wing, Minn., head on, went into the embankment and flipped over, landing on its roof, according to the sheriff’s office.

Emergency crews arrived to find Kennerly with life threatening injuries and McGrath with non-life-threatening injuries. Kennerly was transported to the hospital via a Mayo 1 helicopter and McGrath was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The crash shut down Hwy. 35 for an hour and a half.

Alma Fire Department and Western Buffalo County Ambulance Service also assisted on the scene.
