Two injured in Monroe County buggy crash
SPARTA, Wis. — Two people are injured after a car crashes into a horse-drawn buggy in Monroe County.
The accident happened Sunday just after 7:30 p.m. on Highway 71 in the Town of Clifton.
61-year-old Monty Berger of Long Rock was driving east on Highway 71 when he tried to pass two Amish buggies.
Berger was passing the first buggy when the second buggy turned left in front of Berger’s car.
The car crashed into the buggy, overturning it on the road.
The driver of the buggy, 21-year-old Henry Miller of rural Kendall, and a passenger, 18-year-old Sarah Borntreger of Canton, Missouri, were both taken to Tomah Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Berger was not injured. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
