U.S. Senator questions FDA Commissioner nominee

The Trump Administration nominee for the next FDA Commissioner stood before the Senate Health Committee earlier this week, and U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin was prepared with questions for him.

She asked nominee, Dr. Stephen Hahn, if he’s ready to stand up to the special interest groups, the vaping industry, and the President, to end the vaping epidemic that is harming over 1-million children in the U.S., according to Baldwin.

She wants to make sure he’s qualified for the job.

“He has never had a role in government before, nor has he lead an organization that deals with oversight and regulation. He has, however, run a very large health organization,” Baldwin said.

Baldwin says his strengths are his experience as a cancer doctor and his focus on human and public health.
