United Way, Onalaska Walmart team up to ‘Stuff the Bus’
ONALASKA, WI — Back to school shopping can be an exciting time for kids, but when parents are struggling financially, it can also be a challenging time. That’s why the United Way is teaming up with Walmart in Onalaska for their “Stuff the Bus” campaign.
This weekend, Walmart shoppers are encouraged to buy extra school supplies that can be donated to the United Way.
All the supplies will then be given to the Onalaska School district and distributed to families in need.
The poverty level in Onalaska has doubled in the past 12 years, meaning the need has gone up as well. “Back to school is usually a pretty exciting time for students, but that can change a little bit if you don’t have the neccessary supplies even to start on day one. So it’s a really exciting event and a really exciting way to make sure our low income students have all the supplies they need for the start of school,” said Jason Larsen from United Way.

They’re looking for everything from pens and pencils to folders and paper towels.
Onalaska residents who need school supplies from this program should call the Onalaska School District.
