UPDATE: 2 semis, 8 cars involved in fatal Wisconsin crash
GERMANTOWN, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say two semis and eight cars were involved in a fatal crash on a southeastern Wisconsin highway Tuesday.
Police Chief Peter Hoell says one person is dead and six others were taken to hospitals.
He says the crash occurred when a northbound semi and car collided causing the semi to cross the median into the southbound lanes where the pileup occurred.
Hoell says one of those taken to a hospital suffered serious injuries and had to be extricated from one of the vehicles. He says other injuries are non-life-threatening.
The chief says the highway was slick with rain at the time of the crash shortly after 9 a.m. The highway’s southbound lanes were expected to be closed until mid-afternoon.
