UPDATE: Woman, 83, struck, killed while crossing street

MILWAUKEE (AP) — An 83-year-old woman was struck and killed while crossing a Madison street.

Police say the woman wasn’t in a crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle Sunday afternoon. Authorities say the 65-year-old male driver is cooperating with the investigation and is not being held.

The State Journal says the woman died shortly after she was rushed to the hospital. The Dane County medical examiner’s office identifies the woman as Helen Greening of Madison.
