Urban biodiversity summit encourages green space

Local community members are taking advantage of the  nice weather by getting  in touch with nature.

Dozens attended what’s called the La Crosse Area Urban Biodiversity Summit. at Myrick Park Center in La Crosse Friday.

The summit brings people together to develop long-range plans to increase the public’s health by improving the area’s biodiversity.

Organizers say staying healthy means increasing people’s access to nature.

It’s having access to what’s available to you, so if you live in the woods you just have to walk out the door, but if you live in an apartment building what can you do to do increase a little bit of your green space. That might be having a container garden out on a patio it might be having something in your window.

This is the second year of the summit.
