UW-Eau Claire students react as racial tensions escalate on campus

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire were protesting on Monday after racial tensions escalate on campus.

Five university football players were suspended last week after a group chat conversation showed racist remarks and a reference to the Ku Klux Klan.

Hundreds of UW-Eau Claire students left classes Monday afternoon to protest for change regarding racial equality and delivered a list of demands to the Chancellor James Schmidt’s office.

The University opened an investigation into the incident last Wednesday. The Dean of Students’ office told the Leader-Telegram they hope to have the investigation complete by the end of this week.
