UW-L celebrates School of Education
Over 400 people came together to celebrate the field of education Sunday afternoon.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — UW-La Crosse hosted its annual “Celebration for Education” which brings together current students studying education, faculty and recent graduates currently working in the field.
The event recognizes area teachers while encouraging future teachers.
Wisconsin schools of education have recently struggled to attract students wishing to pursue a career in teaching, so officials say Sunday’s event is important in moving the field forward.
“This event is really important to recognize the power of giving back and helping move education forward. Teachers are desperately needed in our communities and this event just recognizes the value of the work they do each and every day,” said Marcie Wycoff-Horn, dean of the UW-La Crosse School of Education.
Emerson Elementary School in La Crosse was awarded the Outstanding Professional Development Award for its assistance with teacher training.
