UW-L residence halls to be locked during Oktoberfest weekend
LA CROSSE, WI — UW-La Crosse’s residence halls will once again be locking their doors to outsiders for the first weekend of Oktoberfest.
The university is continuing a policy implemented last year.
Starting Friday morning, the doors to the dorms will be locked unless you have a key to get in. Also, residents are not allowed to have any overnight guests stay in their rooms.
Several incidents involving rowdy behavior encouraged this policy change.
It’s something both students and staff are on board with. “Nothing can go wrong with having just people you know inside the dorms,” said UW-L sophomore Sam Mason.
“Students were safer, the halls were cleaner, we had very, very few policy violations,” said UW-L’s Director of Residence Life Nick Nicklaus.
Opening ceremonies for Oktoberfest start at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
