UW-La Crosse budget discussed at meeting in La Crosse
La Crosse, Wis. (WKBT) — The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse budget was discussed at a League of Women Voters meeting today in La Crosse.
Growth in the capital budget as well as decreases in funding were major topics of discussion.
UW-La Crosse continues to adapt their budget in the sixth year of tuition freezes in the U-W System.
“It’s difficult to maintain the adequacy of the funding that we need for all of our faculty and all of our staff. We’re find that our full professors at UW-La Crosse are 20 percent behind their peers at similar universities,” said Bob Hetzel, Vice Chancellor for UW-La Crosse.
Capital budgets have brought a half of a billion dollars in building projects over the past decade.
UW-La Crosse is requesting more than $100 million in funding from the state in the 2019 biennial budget.
