UW-La Crosse Chancellor meets with UW System board of regents
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — One of the raises discussed at the UW System board of regents meeting Thursday is for UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow.
An annual raise for Chancellor Gow was called at risk by UW System president Ray Cross after Gow invited a porn star to speak on campus during free speech week.
Gow paid 59-year-old porn actress Nina Hartley $5,000 dollars out of his discretionary fund to speak on campus November 1st.
Gow says today was a great chance to connect with regents and discuss the incident.
“There is a proud tradition in Wisconsin of the sifting and winnowing in the search for truth and one of the regents said to me, he said ‘You know that’s what this is, this is modern day sifting and winnowing,” said Joe Gow, UW-La Crosse Chancellor.
The status of Gow’s annual raise has not been determined yet.
