UW-La Crosse enrollment increases again
More than 10,500 students enrolled at UWL this year
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — UW-La Crosse has seen another record year when it comes to enrollment numbers.
The university surpassed last year’s enrollment numbers by about 130. There are more than 10,500 students attending classes.
The chancellor says the record population is a result of two of the largest incoming classes in the last 30 years and a retention rate of about 86-percent. But the sky is not the limit for the landlocked campus.
“I don’t think we would want to go much higher than say 11,000 students. We are the smallest campus geographically in the UW System,” said UW-La Crosse Chancellor Joe Gow.
The chancellor says the university planned for the increase of students and hired enough faculty and staff to actually shrink the average class size by four.
