UW-La Crosse makes NCAA Tournament

Eagles to play at Whitewater regional

The UW-La Crosse baseball team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. The bracket was announced early Monday morning.

The Eagles (26-16), a No. 4 seed, received an at-large berth after finishing second in the WIAC in the regular season and losing in the WIAC Tournament Championship Game.

One of 56 teams selected, UW-L will play in a regional tournament hosted by No. 1-seed UW-Whitewater. The other teams in the regional are No. 2-seed Heidelberg, No. 3-seed Concordia-Chicago, No. 5-seed Adrian and No. 6-seed St. Norbert.

There are eight regional sites; six teams will compete at four of them, while eight teams will compete at the other four. All regional sites use a double-elimination format.

Winners of the eight regionals will advance to the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, May 23-27.
