UW-La Crosse signs student health agreement with Mayo Clinic Health System
LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Students at UW-La Crosse who need medical help will get it from Mayo Clinic Health System physicians and staff.
A new agreement between Mayo Clinic Health System and the university will bring in Mayo doctors and nurses to the Student Health Center on campus.
Dr. Steve Perkins, a family physician and the new student health director, says Mayo can cater to the needs of the college community.
“There’s a lot of difference of what a kid goes through as a college student than what a 45-year-old or a 75-year-old goes through, so we’ve got some unique situations that we deal with on campus, and so we’re very happy to serve those kids and their unique needs,” said Dr. Perkins.
The collaboration also allows Mayo Clinic to pursue more research and educational opportunities.
Mayo Clinic sports medicine experts have already been serving as UWL’s team physicians for several years.
