UW-Madison explores office in China
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A delegation from the University of Wisconsin at Madison has left for China in the latest step in the university’s push to increase research connections there and recruit Chinese students to study here.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports the delegation led by Dean Gilles Bousquet of the division of international studies left Saturday on a trip that could lead to the school’s first foreign office.
Before leaving, Bousquet told the newspaper he would explore a partnership with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a research park in the Minhang District of Shanghai.
The office wouldn’t operate as a campus, but he says it would give UW-Madison an on-the-ground presence to expand study and research abroad.
Over the past two years, UW-Madison has sent four official delegations to China.
