UWL gives students ‘Sample of the City’
Annual event gives businesses a chance to show students what they have to offer
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Students at UW-La Crosse are learning more about what the city of La Crosse has to offer.
The 14th annual “Sample the City” event was held during the lunch hour Wednesday.
45 local businesses set up shop on campus, offering students more information on what they do, along with some free samples.
Tram Tran, the Vice President of the UWL Campus Activities Board, says the event can be an eye-opener for new students looking for things to do.
“If I was a freshman or sophomore on campus, I would’ve never heard of Deaf Ear Records downtown, or if I had a hobby I wouldn’t have known that this place has this, there’s yoga here, (and) there’s a bunch of fitness places,” said Tran.
This year’s event featured 15 more businesses than last year. An estimated 5000 students showed up to this year’s “Sample the City.”
