LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Some people in our area are getting into the Thanksgiving spirit Saturday.
During the morning, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse held its 23rd annual Turkey Trot hosted by the campus’s Rec Sports. The Trot went through campus and included a costume contest, coloring contest, and a half-mile race for kids.
Money raised goes to multicultural scholarships on campus as well as leadership development at Rec Sports.
Organizers say despite the cold weather, they were happy to see the community so excited for about the event.
“Just seeing how everyone was so excited to participate. Like just walking through the start line over here a few minutes ago, everyone has super high energy and ready to run and that’s awesome to see as someone that helped put it together,” Rec Sports event supervisor Alyssa Doughty said.
The Trot had more than 800 runners participate this year.
