Van Doren to run against Rep. Ron Kind in 3rd District
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Congressman Ron Kind has his first opponent in this year’s midterm election.
Ken Van Doren announced his candidacy Thursday for the 3rd Congressional District seat.
Van Doren, a Republican, is a retired building contractor and former Mauston City Council member.
One of his top priorities if he takes office will be to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
He says the country is in bad shape right now and it’s time for a change. “We’re a mess, we’re losing our freedoms and we’re destroying this country economically, and the incumbent is a big part of that problem and he needs to go,” said Van Doren.
Incumbent Ron Kind is a nine-term congressman from La Crosse.
