Vernon County school improves Thanksgiving for area families
St. Charles School in Genoa donates 12 Thanksgiving meal baskets
GENOA, Wis. (WKBT) — A small school in Vernon County is making a big impact for some families in the area.
St. Charles School in Genoa donated 12 Thanksgiving meal baskets to the county Tuesday.
They’re filled with turkeys, pies, potatoes, and all the other fixings for the traditional dinner. All of the food was collected by the 32 students and their families, the staff, and members of the parish.
The county will give the baskets to families in need.
“The families that receive these baskets are extremely appreciative. Many of them are moved to tears,” said Vernon County Human Services Director Pamela Eitland.
“It helps out for people who don’t have all the stuff they need,” said 7th grader Matthew Pedretti.
“The smallest act of kindness is huge, and it’s a huge impact on people,” said Administrative Assistant Leslie Swancutt.
The baskets also have Wal-Mart and Kwik Trip gift cards and a board game.
