Vikings take QB Kellen Mond with initial third-round pick
After drafting a lineman to protect Kirk Cousins in the first round of the NFL Draft, the Vikings used their first of four third-round picks to take Cousins’ successor at QB, Kellen Mond.
Mond was a four-year starter for Texas A&M and is the third quarterback in SEC history to pass for over 9,000 yards and rush for over 1,500 yards.
The Vikings then took North Carolina linebacker Chazz Surratt, a two-time All-ACC player. At No. 86 overall Minnesota took Ohio State guard Wyatt Davis, a 2020 unanimous All-American. And at No. 90, Minnesota added Pittsburgh defensive end Patrick Jones, who led the ACC last season with nine sacks.
