Violet ‘Vi’ Defries

Violet Adeline Defries, 88, of Winona and formerly of Windom, MN died April 18, 2021 at Sugar Loaf Senior Living.
She was born April 1, 1933 in Westbrook, MN to Adolf and Lillian (Hochstein) Abram. She married Raymond Defries on August 16, 1953. They lived in California for a short time and moved back to Windom where they settled and raised their family.
Violet was a devoted mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. She worked for Fingerhut, was part owner of Defries Photo Processing, and worked part time serving lunches at the Windom public schools. She enjoyed her crafts, sewing, decorating for the holidays and trips to the Casino with Ray.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Blaine) Meyer, Bruce (Diane) Defries and grandchildren; Harrison Defries and Jaran (Danielle) Defries. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Violet will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fort Snelling at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 29, 2021.
