Viterbo Returns Home After Final Four Run
V-Hawks title run ends in NAIA Semifinals
LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) — Sioux City almost became celebration city for Viterbo Volleyball.
After cruising through their first four opponents at nationals, the V-Hawks met their match Saturday against Missouri Baptist.
“Their front line was a big concern for us going in,” V-Hawk Head Ccach Ryan DeLong said. “We battle to keep pace, but ultimately that was the biggest difference.”
The match marked Viterbo’s second consecutive appearance in the NAIA Final Four. The team finished 2015 (40-5) overall, and briefly owned the No. 1 ranking in the country for the first time in school history.
“I just love this team and I love the staff I am working for,” DeLong said. “It is just special to be a part of. We are going to keep on going and continue to work hard, and hopefully the tradition continues.”
Looking ahead, the V-Hawks graduate three seniors including key defensive specialist Jennifer Krentz.
