Viterbo University hosts annual Nutcracker performance

The Nutcracker is a Christmas tradition celebrated every year in the theater. This year, The Viterbo University’s Fine Arts Center hosted the La Crosse Dance Center’s 28th annual Nutcracker performance.

This year’s cast consisted of 113 dancers ranging as young as 5 years old through adulthood.

The performance had three public show times this weekend: one each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Those at the La Crosse Dance Center say the Nutcracker is all about spreading joy.

“There’s so much color and flavor in the rich music and we try to really bring that through in the way we tell the story with the dance and the movement and the costumes and the sets. And it’s always our intention to bring that joy to the audiences and make it a part of their holiday tradition,” said director Nikki Balsamo.

The La Crosse Dance Center would like us to let you know that they will be having the performance again next year and if you are interested in trying out for the play they will be holding tryouts in June.
