Volunteers honored at breakfast in La Crosse

21st annual Volunteer Recognition Breakfast

Volunteers in the La Crosse area are being honored as part of National Volunteer Week.

The Coulee Region Volunteer Coordinators held their 21st annual Volunteer Recognition Breakfast Wednesday morning at the Waterfront Restaurant banquet room in La Crosse. Volunteers were honored and thanked for their thousands of hours of service.

Kim Scholze from the Coulee Region Volunteer Coordinators says while it’s nice to honor those people for their hard work, it isn’t why people volunteer.

“Most of the volunteers that we recognize, they’re people that don’t want the recognition, because they want to serve, they’re not there for recognition,” said Scholze.

One of the honorees agrees, and says she’s proud to volunteer.

“We consider it an honor, not just to get an award, but to be able to do this, to be able to go out into this community and to volunteer and to donate,” said Sally Miner.

More than 200 people attended the breakfast this year.
