Wagner transfers to Winona State

G-E-T graduate Tim Wagner was one of three additions announced on Tuesday to the Winona State men’s basketball team.

Wagner was a preferred walk-on at the University of Nebraska. He ended up redshirting his freshman year after breaking his ankle in October. Wagner was granted his release from the Cornhuskers program at the conclusion of this past season.

The guard averaged 23 points per game his senior season at G-E-T on his way to earning All-State recognition. As a junior Wagner and current Warrior Riley Bambenek led the Red Hawks to the WIAA State Tournament.

“Tim will provide a great boost to our guard play,” Winona State head coach Mike Leaf said in a statement released by the school. “The guy can flat out shoot the ball and he’s one of those players who can play multiple guard positions. He is a versatile player who you absolutely cannot leave alone.”

Wagner will have four years of eligibility remaining after joining WSU.
