Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises money for research
LA CROSSE, WI — Alzheimer’s affects one out of every nine households.
That’s why area residents are putting in the time and the miles to put an end to the disease.
More than 400 people took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease Saturday morning in La Crosse.
The walk raised money for Alzheimer’s research while promoting awareness within the community.
Organizers hope to one day be able to fund an office in La Crosse for families coping with the disease.
22063514The walk helps families not only in the area but around the nation as well.
“This event is so important because if effects so many families, not just in La Crosse but all over the state, all over the country,” said Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Association board member Jon Kovari. “It really raises a lot of money for scientific research to help find a cure. And our goal is to help find a cure by 2025. So it’s an ambitious goal but I think we are up to the challenge.”
Kovari said they ended just shy of their $60,000 goal.
