Walk with a Doc lets area doctors talk public health with the public
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Saturday morning’s Walk with a Doc event allowed walkers to meet with area doctors at Burns Park near the Main Street La Crosse Library for a stroll through downtown streets.
It was a chance for community members to ask local doctors medical questions, while doctors talked about public health concerns. They also gave some safety reminders.
“Turning off your cellphone when you get into the car can reduce the accident rate significantly and here in La Crosse has a significant impact,” said Sigurd Gundersen, III, M.D., a general surgeon with Gundersen Health System.
The walk is put on every year, and is part of an international campaign which started with one Ohio doctor in 2005.
