Walker wants ornament applicants
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is looking for artists willing to help young people decorate ornaments for Wisconsin’s national Christmas tree.
The governor says artists or art teachers can send him an email describing the youth group they will work with to decorate the ornaments until Oct. 25. His office will randomly choose one applicant, most likely on Oct. 26.
The National Park Foundation then will immediately make arrangements to deliver the ornaments, which must be returned by Nov. 18.
Each state and U.S. territory has a tree around the national Christmas tree in Washington, D.C. The states and territories are allowed to place 24 ornaments decorated by youth on their trees. One ornament from each group also will hang on the White House visitor center’s tree.
