WAMO State Pool Tournament underway in La Crosse
Four day tournament brings pool players in from across the state
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Billiards action is on cue for La Crosse this week.
Wisconsin Amusement and Music Operators, or WAMO, Pool Tournament is at the La Crosse Center starting today
Pool players from across the state started competing Wednesday afternoon.
About 1,600 competitors will face off in different styles of pool in the 33-rd year of the tournament.
While the event is about having fun, it’s a good time for local businesses.
“It’s a way to kind of give back to the community and the local establishments, restaurants, bars and different things. It brings a lot of people into the area, hopefully it helps them out,” said Patrick Ortleib, WAMO State Pool Tournament director.
The event was last hosted in La Crosse in 2018.
Action continues at the La Crosse Center through Sunday.
